Kongsvinger Knights – Storhamar 1-4 (0-1, 1-2, 0-1)
Storhamar overpowered the hosts in this game and won it comfortably in the end. But it could have been closer if the hosts had taken advantage of Storhamar’s many wasted opportunities in the first frame. 19 shots were fired at the net, but only a powerplay deflection from Robin Dahlstrøm beat Andrew Hare between the pipes. The Yellows played well, but couldn’t capitalize on the pressure. Luckily for Storhamar Oskar Östlund guarding the pipes took care of business when needed.
In the second act Kongsvinger came higher and managed to tie it in a powerplay of their own, a rebounder from the slot by Sean-Michel Sunnquist. But the Yellows stroke back immediately with a pair from Josh Nicholls and Mikael Zettergren, and never looked back after that.
The third period became a controlled one way show without taking too many chances in offence, but Martin Rønnild managed to put one more in with a nice wrister from the circle. The waste mode was turned back on though, cause our guys should have netted more than Rønnild’s goal on the monstrous opportunities that were created in the latter part. The stats show 52 shots on target for the Yellows during the game, and lots of shots went just outside as well. But Hare stood tall to keep the score at acceptable digits.
